After careful evaluation of performance, cost and security, Otter decided to switch from another large language model provider to Claude.

Claude's 200k context window dramatically improved Otter's ability to process long meeting transcripts. Tasker explained that while testing with other models, the team "had to make compromises in our solution." Claude's larger context window eliminated these constraints.

Privacy and security requirements were also equally crucial. Tasker said, "The Anthropic team was really accommodating in working with us. One of our requirements was zero data retention with Anthropic, which they agreed to—that was key for us."

The combination of technical capabilities and competitive pricing made enterprise-wide deployment feasible. Despite the logistics of switching platforms, Otter completed the integration without delaying their launch. Otter leverages Claude for many new features as it allows for quick experimentation and offers us an easy way to gain customer feedback on whether a feature may be useful or not.

For sales teams, Otter automatically analyzes sales calls according to established methodologies and syncs insights directly to CRMs like Salesforce and HubSpot. This automation keeps revenue teams aligned without requiring manual documentation. "That's a huge time saver and also just the value of having your Salesforce or Hubspot CRM up to date with what's going on in the deal," said Tasker.

At the organizational level, Otter breaks down traditional information silos by making their platform accessible across departments. Unlike specialized tools for specific teams due to cost constraints, Otter's competitive pricing enables company-wide deployment. Tasker adds, "The value is in having everybody using the same AI meeting note taker regardless of which virtual meeting platform is used," explaining how this is crucial to facilitating seamless information exchange and handoffs between teams.

Otter has become the living knowledge hub for all the organization’s meetings. Tasker shares, "Our institutional knowledge, our spoken knowledge, is inside of Otter." Tasker describes their vision: "When my avatar joins a meeting, it will know everything I know: every conversation, document, Slack message, and email."
